TRACK UPGRADE COMPLETE

Queensland’s athletics community is set for a boost, with the major upgrades to both the State Athletics Track and Main Stadium now complete.

The tracks have been dug-up and re-laid with a blue and grey Rekortan synthetic athletic track surface, which is used in sports tracks across the Asia Pacific. The Main Track has also been upgraded from a nine lane track to a 10 lane track, making it the only facility in Australia which has two 400m ten lane tracks co-located at the one venue!

QSAC hosts approximately 120 athletics events per year, as well as regular training for Little Athletics, Queensland Athletics and Queensland Academy of Sport training. These new tracks will give QSAC the opportunity to host international meets as well as training for international teams, such as the England Athletics team who is set to train here in the lead-up to GC2018.
