CONSTRUCTION OF NEW FIREBIRDS NEST APPROACHES HALFWAY POINT
Construction of the Queensland State Netball Centre is nearing the halfway point, with the first of the roof sheeting now complete.
The $44 million dollar facility is being jointly-funded by the Queensland Government ($34 million) and the Australian Government ($10 million) and is being built at the Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre (QSAC) in Nathan.
The facility will feature eight indoor hard courts, including a 5,000 seat show court, a gymnasium and high performance training facilities. With more than 46,000 registered netball players in Queensland, the facility will be a great asset for thousands of young netballers as well as developing senior and representative netball players.
As part of the development, TransLink is constructing a new multi-level, park ’n’ ride facility, which will be one of the biggest facilities in Queensland.
