QSAC facility upgrades now complete

The facilities at QSAC have received several upgrades over the past eight months, including refreshed amenities, landscaping and footpath upgrades and fencing.

PSC Design and Arcadia led the design for the upgrades, working closely with the QSAC team and SQ’s Assets and Facilities team to deliver the new facilities and upgrades.

The upgrades included:

Level 2 amenities upgrade (north end)

The Level 2 existing amenities were part of original construction in 1979 and were due for a refresh.

With the southern end upgraded in 2012, this new northern end space will improve patron experience immensely and has already received glowing feedback from users. It also includes the addition of a dedicated Parents Room.

Track and Field Room amenities upgrade

This upgrade provides modern corporate level amenities including new Parents room and Accessible amenities, which has improved patron experience.

Western Stand Forecourt (Stage 2)

The second stage of the Western Stand Forecourt upgrades saw the southern and northern footpaths upgraded. The new forecourt features landscaping and seating areas, improved accessible (PWD) parking, enhanced safety with new bollards, and improved wheelchair access into QAS athlete’s lounge.

State Athletics Facility Upgrade (south end)

As part of the upgrades to the State Athletics Facility (SAF), the fence line was moved further into the SAF and a new footpath and hardstand area with sandstone blocks in front of catering outlet were installed.

These upgrades not only improved the patron experience, but they also improved safety, helping the QSAC team to better manage carparking for events.

QSAC Facilities and Operations Manager Alice Dingley said the upgrades were already making a big impact.

“The QSAC upgrades have been highly anticipated by the team and are already proving to have a positive impact on the venue by providing improved patron experience and safe environment for QSAC visitors, as well as a more pleasant environment for staff,” Ms Dingley said.

SQ’s Design Manager Trent Watson said the upgrades are part of a five-year process that started with the QAS gymnasium and foyer works.

“The recent upgrades at QSAC provide a fully complete forecourt to the western stand, along with modern and equitable facilities creating safe, more appealing and user-friendly for everyone who visits QSAC,” Mr Watson said.
