The Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre (QSAC) is gathering pace for another bumper athletics season in 2026 with the venue set to host more than 68 events over the coming months.
QSAC Events Manager Erica Kennedy said the team are preparing for a broad range of events between now and the end of October.
“This is our busy school-based athletics competition season, when we host everything from individual and combined school athletics carnivals, district and regional meets to the prestigious state championships,” Ms Kennedy said.
“The starter’s gun goes off in June and culminates with both the Queensland All Schools Track & Field Championships and the Queensland Representative School Sport Track & Field State Championships being hosted at the venue in October. Other big athletics competitions during this time include the Associated Independent Colleges (AIC), Queensland Girls Secondary School Sports (QGSSSA) and the Great Public Schools (GPS) Track & Field Warm Up and Championship meets.
“Throughout this period, we also have two community events, the Paladin Fitness Racing – Warrior and Endurance editions, in July and September.
"These events have been a great addition to the QSAC event calendar, and really highlight the versatility of the venue.”
For this next period (June to October), the QSAC team are expecting to welcome approximately 78,000 people to these events alone. The team will see even higher attendance at the venue during this period when all of the high performance, private and public training that will run alongside the events is taken into account.
Believe it or not, this time of year is also when the QSAC team see the most sales of one of their most popular food items – hot chips! In 2025, 13,000 cups of hot chips were sold!
